About John G Evans | Poems About Life & the Struggles with P.T.S.D.

I am an emerging poet writing for the cause of the individual soul traumatized by the social, economic, religious, theological, jurisprudence, and with an etymologic fire to create a just society.

Poems about life are typically the genre of poetry and photography John G Evans writes and aspires to through the blog writing of thelenspoet.com. His lifelong passion is sharing his story of how trauma shaped his point of view for photography and writing poetry. A life of trauma is not an easy life to live. John Evans poetry may very well demonstrate the healing process of facing darkness and esoteric poems that can often aspire from within one’s own trauma.

“When the Student is Ready, the Teacher will Appear.”

In the midst of life Evans and his psychological damage have faced his demons head on with the photographic image and the written word. Evans spent thirty years in a kind of monastic setting living life in solitude and misery. It was not until he read his first book of spiritual poetry edited by Jane Hirschfield with her amazing book entitled, Women in Praise of the Sacred: 43 Centuries of Spiritual Poetry by Women. As well, his poetry mentor poet and author Annie Finch cleared a path through his first manuscript by editing his work on his first book, Vehemence: In Silence we Weep. Evans went on to write his second book of poetic expressions, I AM: The Tiny Mustard Seed based on the darkness in his thirty year solitude. So, trauma does not have to be in vain. There remains a story waiting to get out from all of us. Whether through poetic or photographic expressions, getting over traumatic experiences can be possible, and perhaps beneficial in so many ways.

As the quotation herein states, “When the Student is Ready the Teacher will Appear” may signify you are on the road to recovery from the trauma that plaques all of us through traumatic events by way of writing of the trauma or photographic therapy that has been beneficial to Evans’ life in terms of healing. This depth of writing can positively facilitate healing should you stay with it. The pain Evans endured and the demons he faced began to fade word upon word. Give it a try.
